- 19 June - Solomon Tshekisho Plaatje, intellectual, journalist, linguist, politician, translator, and writer, dies in Kimberley at the age of 55
- 15 July - Cornelis Jacobus Langenhoven, playwright, poet, journalist and politician, dies in Oudtshoorn at the age of 58
- 30 December - Daisy de Melker (46), is hanged for the murder of her 20-year old son Rhodes Cole, who died on 5 March, 1932 of arsenic poisoning.
