Brøndby is actually 3 cities. Brøndbyvester (West), Brøndbyøster (East) and to the south Brøndby Strand. Brøndbyvester is the "original" Brøndby and have a couple of old farm houses, but mostly there's a lot of single family houses, this is a typical middle-class Danish suburb.

Brøndbyøster is East of the big intersection that parts the 3 different Brøndby's. The city is one big housing project with high-rise residential buildings (Brøndby Strand Projects '93[1]), this part of the city has many older people and immigrants. Brøndby Strand is actually a mix of those two cities. There are lot of single-family houses and 12 high-rise residential estates. This area has often been referred to as a ghetto. Many immigrants live in Brøndby Strand and the area alongside with Vallensbæk, Ishøj and Hundige. Has one of Copenhagens highest crime rates. These four neighborhoods are also known as the Southside or Southcoast Copenhagen.

Brøndby is the home of Brøndby IF, a football club. It is also the home of the hiphop group Outlandish, R&B singer Burhan G, and National Hockey League player Mikkel Boedker

Its name in Danish means "well city".
