Changi General Hospital (Abbreviation: CGH; Chinese: 樟宜综合医院) is the largest hospital in the eastern region of Singapore.

[edit] History

Changi General Hospital's present building at Simei was officially opened on 28 March 1998. It was formed as a result of an amalgamation of two hospitals rich in history, the Changi Hospital and the Toa Payoh Hospital, the latter of which was the direct predecessor of the medical institution. The hospital can therefore trace its roots back to June 1957, when the Thomson Road Hospital began construction, and which was to eventually evolve into its present state.

As a result of a restructuring exercise in the local heathcare scene, the hospital became a member of the Singapore Health Services in 2000.
