Chromomorphism

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Chromomorphism (chromo: color / morph: change) is a quality of certain materials or living tissues that are able to change their colors. The process of color change on chromomorphic objects or creatures can be natural or voluntary.

An example of a chromomorphic animal is the chameleon, which changes the color of its skin according to chemical surges in its body (not to blend in, contrary to popular belief).
