Cimande (chimande) is a style of pencak silat, a family of martial arts from Indonesia and Malaysia. Considered one of the mother arts of pencak silat, Cimande originated in West Java. The year that it was created is disputed to be anywhere between the 1300s and the 1800s. Cimande is mainly an arm-hand system with limited but effective kicks. Conditioning of the forearms, using similar methods to Hung Gar and Iron Palm training, allows the Cimande practitioner to deliver crippling counter-attacks to an opponent's arms and head.
