Dave Parnaby is head of the Middlesbrough youth academy. A native of Durham and previously a Physical Education teacher, he coached England under-15 schoolboys before joining Middlesbrough FC. He was also manager of non-League Gateshead.

Now in charge of developing the youth academy at Middlesbrough, he led his youngsters to the FA Youth Cup Final in 2003, where they finished runners-up to Manchester United. The following year they reached the final for a second successive year and won the trophy for the first time in the club's history with a 4-0 aggregate victory over Aston Villa.

In recent years, Middlesbrough have been noted as having one of the most productive youth academy systems in European football.
