Delhi Public School, India (DPS) is among the largest institutions providing education at school level in India. Although its name suggests otherwise, it is not localized or limited to the Delhi region, and it also has responsibility for a number of schools in other countries. Its administrative body is the non-profit-making organization known as the Delhi Public School Society. Delhi Public Schools are affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in New Delhi.

There are now over 150 Delhi Public Schools in India with the largest schools located at Kanpur,Bhopal, Rama Krishna Puram, Mathura Road, Noida, Udaipur, Dehradun, Faridabad, Dwarka, Bhilai and Vasant Kunj. Outside India there are 13 Delhi Public Schools in ten different countries: United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Indonesia, Kuwait, Nepal (Birguni, Dahran and Biratnagar), Qatar, Saudi Arabia (Jeddah and Riyadh), Singapore and Uganda (Kampala).^[1]

Delhi Public School, Mathura Road, founded in 1949 was the first Delhi Public School. It was founded by educationist Reverend James Tytler.^[2] It was followed in 1972 by Delhi Public School, R K Puram. Both schools are today among the most respected schools in India.^[3]

DPS Aligarh was established in 1988 and is a co-educational day cum boarding school. The school is located at Aligarh-Agra and occupies three different campuses. DPS Junior Wing and DPS Senior Wing are both situated on the Agra Road. A second DPS Junior Wing is located at Civil Lines and occupies a panoramic piece of land of more than 26 acres (110,000 m²). The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The school's motto is Service before self.

The school's three phases of construction are over and the last phase is in the pipeline which includes the construction of a swimming pool. DPS Aligarh has hosted the International Girls Athletic Meet on two occasions since 1998.

DPS Bokaro was established in 1986.The school is primarily located in SEC-IV/C and occupies two different campuses. DPS Junior Wing and DPS Senior Wing are located in SEC-V and SEC-IV/C respectively. DPS Bokaro has produced some of the best results in the country, especially in competitive exams such as IIT-JEE, AIEEE, AIIMS, CBSE-PMT and Manipal U-GET. It is situated in the hill-town of Damanjodi. It was established in 1984 and the Founder principal was Mr Ranjeev Taneja. It is a single-story school complex on about 60 acres (240,000 m²). The school has about 1000 students and a staff of about 100. It is currently headed by Mr. P.S. Chandrasekara.

It provides education from Nursery to class XII. The school is also a registered examination centre of the class X and XII CBSE Board Examinations.

The students of class XI are offered two streams to choose from

1. Science Stream, with the following subjects:- English, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology/ Computer Science, Biotechnology . 2. Commerce Stream, with the following subjects: English, Accounts, Economics, Business Studies, Mathematics/Informatics Practices. 3. The school campus has a vast and green playground for the students to play football, cricket, and athletic events can played as the the ground has a 400mtr athletic track. 4. School conducts different competitions like Debate and Essay writing which enables the students by which they can improve their knowledge and can improve their English . 4.School has a vast area and no heighted buildings where children can fall and may cause injuries. 5. Extra Classes are been conducted for the development of Students' Knowledge for the classes of 10th and 12th where they are able to make their basement strong which helps students to fetch Good Results in the CBSE 10 & 12th Board Examinations.

The school also has a 200-bed residential hostel with students from all over the country. The school is a joint venture of NALCO, which is the largest aluminum producer in Asia.

K. B. Bhargava is the Principal of the Delhi Public School in Dhanbad. The school's facilities include two computer centres, a library and several laboratories.

Delhi Public School, Dwarka, established in 1996 with the motto "Service Before Self", is run under the aegis of the Delhi Public School Society. The school is located in a landscaped campus area of 12 acres (49,000 m²) at Sector-III, Phase-I, Dwarka, New Delhi. The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education for classes from Nursery to XII. The school offers medical, non-medical, commerce and humanities streams in classes XI and XII. It has been called one of the best schools in India according to the India Today magazine.

DPS Faridabad is a school located in Faridabad. It was founded on 10 July 1995. Faridabad covers an areas of 8 acres (32,000 m²). Today the school enrols over 10,000 students as day scholars and hostelers. Its academic performance is 2nd inline after DPS R.K. Puram.

Delhi Public School, Greater Noida is one of the 11 schools directly under the management of the DPS Society, New Delhi. The foundation stone of the school was laid on 18 April 1997 by Mr. Narendra Kumar, Mr. S. L. Dhawan and Mr. Ranjeev Taneja Founder Principal DPS Greater Noida. The entire fraternity of the school was also present at the ceremony.

DPS Greater Noida is divided into a junior and senior school. Its facilities include a computer lab, library with a large collection of books, Science, Math and English laboratories, soccer fields, cricket pitch, basketball courts, tennis courts, badminton courts, a swimming pool for the children.

Delhi Public School Harni, near the Vadodara Airport started in April 2006. Now Mr. A. K. Sinha, the former Principal of DPS Vadodara, who was instrumental in setting up the school, has taken charge of DPS Harni. Mr. A. K. Sinha has returned after a stint at Tokyo, Japan where he set up a CBSE school.

DPS Jaipur is the one of the larger branches of DPS. It has been located on Ajmer Road, Jaipur. It has more than 2500 students and almost 150 teachers. It has 25 buses and it also has a hostel facility.

DPS Korba is one of the schools situated in India's black diamond reserve. The subjects taught are English, Hindi, French, Mathematics, General Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History & Civics and Geography. At the class XI & XII level, the school offers a choice of two streams – Science (with Biology, Mathematics, Computer or Economics) and Commerce. Last year the school has won in Geofest International held at Lucknow. Sports facilities are also provided.

FAIPS or DPS Kuwait is an educational institution in Kuwait established in 1995 with M I Hussain as its Principal. The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education. The medium of instruction is English. The subjects taught are English, Hindi, French, Arabic, Mathematics, General Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History & Civics and Geography. DPS Navi Mumbai is situated in Nerul, Navi Mumbai, and is surrounded on two sides by two lakes. The school will house more than 3000 students in the coming years in its campus land area of 7.25 acres (29,300 m²).

The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education. The medium of instruction is English. Delhi Public School Noida (DPSN) was set up in 1982 by the DPS Society. It is located in Sector 30, Noida. It is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education and has Science, Commerce and Humanities streams. The school is spread over 15 acres (61,000 m²) and has the Gandhi park located in its campus. The school has separate swimming pools for juniors and seniors.

The DPS Noida hostel, opened in 1995, provides separate boarding facilities for boys and girls. It has a mess, a common/TV room and a library for exclusive use by boarders.

The first principal was Padma Shri, S. L. Dhawan, who retired from active duty in 1998. Currently, the principal of the school is Mrs. Nina Sehgal. Mrs. Nina Sehgal was awarded the National Award by the President of India. The school holds the e-spice competition every year.

Delhi Public School, Patna is a collaborative venture between the Takshila Educational Society and the Delhi Public School Society. It offers schooling from Nursery to Class XII.

DPS Raipur

Delhi Public School, Raipur is open for both boys and girls from pre-nursery to Class X. The medium of instruction is English and the students, apart from learning Hindi and Sanskrit, are given an option to learn a foreign language such as German or French. The foreign language curriculum helps to develop the use of the language while offering an insight into the culture and history of that country. The school offers a wide exposure with hands-on projects, sports, cultural activities, literary activities, excursions, computers and community service.

Delhi Public School, Ranipur, Haridwar was established in 1977. It was the first ever venture of DPS Society outside Delhi.

With an All India character, it is an amalgam of industrial ethos of Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd.(BHEL) and the Delhi Public School Society. The principal is Mr. Kailash Chandra Pandey. The school has recently added two new wings :the pre-primary wing and the Middle wing with a huge investment. The school now plans to add hostel facilities for outside students.

With a single minded pursuit, to spread the light of quality education among the middle class, the idea of establishing DPS Rohini was mooted by the visionaries of the DPS Society in 1995 and consequently DPS Rohini was established on 3 July, 1995 under the aegis of Delhi Public School Society. It initially started functioning in the afternoon shift at DPS Mathura Road. With 250 students, the borrowed premises of DPS -Mathura Road, 8 teachers and a focussed and firm mentor Mrs. Rita Sen as the Founder Head Mistress, DPS-Rohini's tryst with destiny began in July, 1995.

In April 2000, the school got its own home in Sector-24 Rohini.

Delhi Public School, Rourkela was established on 1 December 1993, located at sector-14, Rourkela. It has an academic centre with a tennis court, playground, garden and auditorium. The principal of the school is Siddharth Rath. The school has around 2000 students and 100 teachers. The students are divided into four houses- jhelum, chenab, ganges and yamuna. The school provides opportunities to students in quizzing, public speaking, art, dance, aerobics, karate, music etc.

DPS Ruby Park was established in 2003 and is a co-educational school. The school is located at Shanti Pally in Kolkata behind Siemens and Rajdanga and occupies two different campuses. DPS Junior Wing and DPS Senior Wing are both situated in Kasba.The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The school's motto is Service before self. It participates in many national and international competitions. It has won the South Point ULLAS three times in arow. Arunabha Chanda has ranked All-India 1st, 4th, 5th, 9th and Internationally 27th in ASSET Summer 2005, ASSET Winter 2008, 8th National Science Olympiad, 5th National Cyber Olympiad and 2nd International Mathematics Olympiad respectively. Mitul Dey Chowdhury and Debottam Chattopadhyay also made the school proud by winning the All-India Inter-DPS Quiz in 2007.

Delhi Public School, Udaipur is located a short distance from Udaipur City centre amidst the Aravali hills. The school offers day boarding and full boarding facilities in a 22-acre (89,000 m²) campus. It was established on 25 April 2007.

Delhi Public School Vasant Kunj was established in the year 1991 by the DPS Society. Mr Vinay Kumar has been the principal of the school since its inception. DPS VK has a staff of 205 teachers at the senior and junior level.

A number of former Vice-Principals have been placed as Principals at other institutions. Notably, Ms. Nina Sehgal is now the principal of DPS Noida, Ms. Meeta Rai is now the principal of DPS Indirapuram. Ms. Rachna Pandit was for a certain period of time the principal of DPS Singapore, and came at DPS VK in her capacity as a Vice Principal. She is now the Principal of DPS Maruti Kunj, Gurgaon.

DPS Vindhyanagar is a co–educational public school in the CBSE Ajmer Region. The school was instituted on 7 August, 1986. The school is situated in the township of India's largest Power Plant, NTPC-VSTPP (3260 MW).
