Metso Corporation (OMXMEO1V) was created in 1999 through the merger of Valmet and Rauma and is headquartered in Helsinki, Finland. Metso is a global supplier of process industry machinery and systems as well as know-how and aftermarket services. It serves the pulp and paper industry, rock and mineral processing, power, panelboard production and the hydrocarbon and process industries.

Metso consists of three business areas: Paper processing & production, Minerals processing, and Automation.

[edit] Paper processing and production

Metso Paper is a global supplier of pulpmaking, papermaking, boardmaking and tissuemaking lines, covering all the processes from pulp making to the wrapping of finished rolls. This covers the full range of paper products. They have supplied over 1,500 paper machines and equipment for 800 pulping lines to customers worldwide. Approximately one third of the global paper production is performed on production systems supplied by Metso Paper and its predecessors (eg. Valmet, Ahlström, Beloit, Wärtsilä, KMW, Sunds Defibrator).

In 2006 Metso Paper's net sales were EUR 2,925 million. Today, it has a personnel of 11,700. The company's largest market areas are Europe, Asia and North America.[citation needed]

Power's products division operates as part of the Metso Paper and supply fluidized bed boilers and recovery boilers, evaporators, environmental systems and service.

Metso Minerals supplies rock and minerals processing systems to its customers in mining, aggregates production, quarrying and construction.
