Samuel Edward "Sam" Hutchinson (born 3 August 1989 in Slough, Berkshire) is an English professionalfootballer who is currently a right back for Chelsea. He has featured regularly for the Chelsea reserve and youth teams.
A right-back who first joined the Chelsea Academy at nine, Hutchinson is in his third year full-time at Chelsea. He turned professional in August 2006 and made his first appearance for the England U-18s in March 2007. Also able to play at centre-back, Hutchinson was also the second highest appearance maker in the Chelsea's youth team last season.
Hutchinson made his first senior team appearance for Chelsea on May 13, 2007 in a Premier League encounter with Everton.[1] He was then taken on the first team tour of the USA, prior to the 2007–08 season.
On August 20, 2007, Hutchinson signed a new four-year contract, keeping him at Stamford Bridge until 2011.[2] He was named England U-19 captain ahead of the friendly with Germany on November 14, 2007.[3]
