I gave this article a "high priority" since Gerhardt is the most significant Lutheran German hymn writer, only 2nd to Martin Luther himself. --Bender235 00:03, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

After completing his studies in Berlin as tutor in the family of an advocate named Berthold, whose daughter he subsequently married, on receiving his first ecclesiastical appointment at Mittelwald (a small town in the neighbourhood of Berlin) in 1651.
The above makes little sense. First, the syntax has gone wrong. Secondly, it is far from clear how he could complete his (theological?) studies as tutor in the family of an advocate.
