Welcome to the assessment department of the Heraldry and vexillology WikiProject! This department focuses on assessing the quality of Wikipedia's heraldry and vexillology articles. While much of the work is done in conjunction with the WP:1.0 program, the article ratings are also used within the project itself to aid in recognizing excellent contributions and identifying topics in need of further work.

The ratings are done in a distributed fashion through parameters in the {{WikiProject Heraldry and vexillology}} project banner; this causes the articles to be placed in the appropriate sub-categories of Category:Heraldry and vexillology articles by quality, which serves as the foundation for an automatically generated worklist.

[edit] Frequently asked questions

How can I get my article rated?
Please list it in the section for assessment requests below.
Who can assess articles?
Any member of the Heraldry and vexillology WikiProject is free to add or change the rating of an article.
Why didn't the reviewer leave any comments?
Unfortunately, due to the volume of articles that need to be assessed, we are unable to leave detailed comments in most cases. If you have particular questions, you might ask the person who assessed the article; they will usually be happy to provide you with their reasoning.
What if I don't agree with a rating?
You can list it in the section for assessment requests below, and someone will take a look at it. Alternately, you can ask any member of the project to rate the article again.
Aren't the ratings subjective?
Yes, they are, but it's the best system we've been able to devise; if you have a better idea, please don't hesitate to let us know!

If you have any other questions not listed here, please feel free to ask them on the discussion page for this department.

[edit] Instructions

An article's assessment is generated from the class parameter in the {{WikiProject Heraldry and vexillology}} project banner on its talk page:

{{WikiProject Heraldry and vexillology| ... | class=??? | ...}}
Featured article FA
A-Class article A
Good article GA
B
Start
Stub
???
Needed
List
NA

The following values may be used for the class parameter:

Articles for which a valid class is not provided are listed in Category:Unassessed heraldry and vexillology articles. The class should be assigned according to the quality scale below.

After assessing an article's quality, comments on the assessment can be added either to the article's talk page or to the /Comments subpage which will appear as a link next to the assessment. Adding comments will add the article to Category:Heraldry and vexillology articles with comments. Comments that are added to the /Comments subpages will be transcluded onto the automatically generated work list pages in the Comments column.

[edit] Requesting an assessment

If you have made significant changes to an article and would like an outside opinion on a new rating for it, please feel free to add it at the bottom of the list below.

  • Swedish heraldry - I greatly expanded the content and scope of this article and enhanced its readability. I think it's close to GA standards, with just a little more help. I would appreciate any help/pointers on further improving the quality of this article. It might even be a potential FA candidate, with some more help and one or two missing references. I would also like to add one or two cases to the examples listed under Municipal heraldry, to show municipalities that never had city arms and to show ones that combined two cities' arms. This article is still awaiting review. It initially came up for review while I was in the middle of an international move, and the nom was temporarily withdrawn. It has since been further improved and renominated. Wilhelm_meis (talk) 14:32, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
  • Dieu et mon droit - I've re-written the article and expanded the content: I would appreciate any feedback or rating: Regards: Stephen2nd (talk) 13:49, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
Everything I wrote into this article to improve its quality, for which I requested this rating, has been suppressed/reverted by Rrius (bias & Ad Homonym), who has used Twinkle in his his edit-war, against me if I revert. As I requested the rating based on my improvements, could this rating be given on my version?Stephen2nd (talk) 16:58, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
Stephen - I reviewed the article history and found merit in your contributions. It is difficult to say the least, however, to review an unstable article based on a past revision. You'll just have to find a way to work with Rrius and both of you maintain civility. I reverted the article, but it still needs work. Once it becomes stable, hit me up on my talk page and I'll review it. Wilhelm_meis (talk) 02:08, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
Probably a Start-class article, but I'll let someone else do the review on this one. Wilhelm_meis (talk) 14:32, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
