[edit] collaboration of the history projects

Hi, I'm newly appointed coordinator of the Wikipedia: WikiProject History. I was coordinator of the Wikipedia: WikiProject Military History before. My scope is to improve the cooperation among the different history projects andf use the synergy of a common infrastructure to improve article quality. One idea would be to merge small project into a larger wikiproject history with a common infrastructure and the small projects continuing independently as task forces of this project. What are your suggestions? Greetings Wandalstouring 15:17, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Notice

[edit] Naming Conventions: Monarchs

(Not sure if this is the right page, but it is a notice regarding applicable guideline for many of your articles; please move if it would be better on one of your other pages). The naming convention for monarchs has previously been an exception to Wikipedia's general naming conventions. Efforts are now being made to bring them in line, with a propoasl for the most common name for a monarch to take precedence. (eg. William the Conqueror, Napoleon Bonaparte, Mary, Queen of Scots.) Please consider the proposals at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (names and titles)#Proposals to change Monarchal naming conventions so we can get wide consensus on this matter. Thanks. Gwinva (talk) 01:55, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Book of Kells

Book of Kells has been nominated for a featured article review. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. Please leave your comments and help us to return the article to featured quality. [edit] Page in project scope protected

I've just protected Ming Dynasty, a featured article in scope for this project, giving it its second protection in under a month. Both have been caused by edit warring about maps and discussion - the issue being Tibet. Editors from this wikiproject are likely to have minimal political axes to grind on the issue, and thus could prove helpful. If folks could go review the dispute, do some independent research, and help find a consensus that will stick I would appreciate it. GRBerry 15:36, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Medieval Mystics: Help

I shall be grateful if any one here, in collaboration with: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Spirituality http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Religion

could start a Task Force on Medieval Mystics. Many thanks, ACEOREVIVED (talk) 19:39, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Sub-Roman Britain Taskforce

I'm trying to get a sub-roman britain taskforce started and would like to invite all the middle ages participants to join.---G.T.N. (talk) 22:12, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Pages needing expansion

Just though I'd litter your talk page with a few article links (that are within your scope) that need expansion (in the hope that somebody here has some time to help out!)...I will do some expansion myself but I would appreciate any help! Thanks ! --Cameron (t|p|c) 19:12, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Funerary Monument to Sir John Hawkwood

Funerary Monument to Sir John Hawkwood is currently nominated as a featured article candidate. If anyone from this project would like to comment at Wikipedia: Featured article candidates/Funerary Monument to Sir John Hawkwood their input is more than welcome. 01:17, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Articles flagged for cleanup

Currently, 1381 of the articles assigned to this project, or 15.6%, are flagged for cleanup of some sort. (Data as of 18 June 2008.) Are you interested in finding out more? I am offering to generate cleanup to-do lists on a project or work group level. See User:B. Wolterding/Cleanup listings for details. Subsribing is easy - just add a template to your project page. If you want to respond to this canned message, please do so at my user talk page. --B. Wolterding (talk) 17:19, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

[edit] GA under review

Hello there, the article Cannon in the Middle Ages, which falls under the auspices of this Wikiproject, has come under review as part of GA Sweeps and a number of problems have been identified and listed on the talk page. If these problems have not begun to be addressed by seven days from this notice, the article will be delisted from GA and will have to go through the GAN process all over again to regain its status once improvements have been made. If you have any questions, please drop me a line.--Jackyd101 (talk) 13:56, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

Black Death has been nominated for a good article reassessment. Articles are typically reviewed for one week. Please leave your comments and help us to return the article to good article quality. If concerns are not addressed during the review period, the good article status will be removed from the article. Reviewers' concerns are here. Gary King (talk) 19:17, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Anglo-Saxon literature GA?

I'm planning to delist this article son, due to lack of sourcing. It was promoted in 2005, and the criteria are applied more strictly now, and imo this doesn't pass a number of them. Please let me know on the reassessment page if any of you disagree, or plan to do the (large) improvments needed, then i'll wait longer. Thanks!Yobmod (talk) 10:15, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Causes of the Black Death

Causes of the Black Death has been listed as within the scope of this project. Since the question of causes seems more of a scientific question and the Black Death is not an issue specific to the Middle-Ages, I am not quite sure this makes sense. While most of the sources listed are historians, that, in my eyes, is part of the problem of the article. Much space is given to people talking way outside their field of expertise. --213.209.110.45 (talk) 15:13, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] FYI: New articles

A bot has been set up, which looks through the new Wikipedia articles and picks up those that are likely related to the Middle Ages. The search results are available at User:AlexNewArtBot/MiddleAgesSearchResult and are normally updated on a daily basis. Colchicum (talk) 01:29, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Mixco Viejo listed as WP Middle Ages

I'm currently working on the Mixco Viejo article, about an archaeological site in Guatemala. I notice that someone has applied the Wikiproject Middle Ages banner on the talk page. Any objections to me removing it - it surely cannot be relevant here? Simon Burchell (talk) 08:45, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

I don't think I've ever seen anyone interpret "middle ages" that broadly. No objections here. Adam Bishop (talk) 08:51, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, duly removed. Simon Burchell (talk) 14:27, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Germanic peoples

There is a "discussion" on Talk:Germanic peoples about a the includeability of a genetics section. The reasons or excuses offered on the talk page for inclusion of this are totally unconvincing, and it comes across as an embarrassingly Nazi-esque attempt to provide a modern origo gentis for a much beloved 18th century ethno-linguistic construction. Deacon of Pndapetzim (Talk) 20:05, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Llywelyn the Great FAR

I have nominated Llywelyn the Great for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Remove" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Lampman (talk) 11:51, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Albigensian Crusade

Article needs to be written from the secondary sources rather than the primary ones. Apart from this, it's not bad. I wondered if anyone here had the Sumption book to hand. I've got Montaillou, but it is tangential since Leroy Ladurie's archive research was based on the 14th century, when the Crusade was over (although the Cathars seem to have hung on). Itsmejudith (talk) 16:29, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Coordinators' working group

Hi! I'd like to draw your attention to the new WikiProject coordinators' working group, an effort to bring both official and unofficial WikiProject coordinators together so that the projects can more easily develop consensus and collaborate. This group has been created after discussion regarding possible changes to the A-Class review system, and that may be one of the first things discussed by interested coordinators.

All designated project coordinators are invited to join this working group. If your project hasn't formally designated any editors as coordinators, but you are someone who regularly deals with coordination tasks in the project, please feel free to join as well. — Delievered by §hepBot (Disable) on behalf of the WikiProject coordinators' working group at 06:00, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Battle of Barnet peer review

I have rewritten the Battle of Barnet and plan to nominate it for Featured Article. As the battle is part of the Wars of the Roses, a series of conflicts that occured in medieval England, I presume the project would be interested in the article. I invite all to read it and leave comments and suggestions at Wikipedia:Peer review/Battle of Barnet/archive1. Thank you. Jappalang (talk) 16:15, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Article alerts

This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.

If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.

Message sent by User:Addbot to all active wiki projects per request, Comments on the message and bot are welcome here.

Thanks. — Headbomb {ταλκκοντριβς – WP Physics} 09:25, 15 March, 2009 (UTC)

I have nominated Peterborough Chronicle for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. [edit] Battle of Barnet at FAC

Forsooth, yon Battle of Barnet is up for Featured Article candidancy at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Battle of Barnet/archive1. The project is invited to go forth, comment on the article, and help to decide its fate. Will it attain a bronze star? It is up to you! Thank you. Jappalang (talk) 08:45, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Peer review for Battle of Bosworth Field now open

Hi all. This is the battle that ended the Middle Ages for England (or so the Tudor historians claim...). I have greatly expanded the article and would appreciate comments and critiques at Wikipedia:Peer review/Battle of Bosworth Field/archive1. Could the article's class and importance be assessed as well? Thank you all. Jappalang (talk) 08:05, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit] GA Reassessment of Egardus

I have done a GA Reassessment of the Egardus article as part of the GA Sweeps project. I have found the article to not meet the GA Criteria. As such I have put it on hold for one week pending improvement. I am notifying all interested projects and editors of the possibility that this article will be delisted from GA if work is not done to bring it up to GA standards. If you have any questions please contact me on my talk page. My review can be found here. H1nkles (talk) 02:21, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] GA Reassessment of Merseburg Incantations

I have done a GA Reassessment of Merseburg Incantations as part of the GA Sweeps project. I have found the article to be fine except for the lack of references in a couple of sections. I have put [citation needed] templates where I feel at least one in-line citation would be needed. My review is here. I have put the article on hold for a week pending work on the references. I am notifying the interested projects of this. Please contact me on my talk page if you have any questions. H1nkles (talk) 15:30, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] GA Reassessment of Mongol invasion of Khwarezmia

I have done a GA Reassessment of Mongol invasion of Khwarezmia as part of the GA Sweeps project. I have found the article to need considerable work on the references. My review can be found here. I am notifying the interesting projects of this review. I have put the article on hold pending work. If there are questions please contact me at my talk page. H1nkles (talk) 22:57, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Classical vs. Medieval Japan

The Heian period, despite overlapping chronologically with the Middle Ages in Europe is considered to be the "last division of classical Japanese history", as it says in the article. I do not believe it should have an info box from this project on it. Thoughts? Franzeska (talk) 20:34, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Byzantine civil war of 1341–1347 peer review notice
